Meet: Alex Lettrich & Michael Swizter
I'm so excited to introduce you guys to one of our power-duo supporters, Alex Lettrich and Michael Swiztzer. These two have been so incredibly supportive in the journey to grow the Melanie Audrey brand. You guys will often only see Alex in front of the camera but we wanted to have Michael in front of the lense this time too! Below you'll read their Q&A and see their latest photoshoot with our Bali Collection! Alex is the blonde and Michael is the brunette (incase you're wondering!).
Tell us a bit about yourself! (Name, age, what you do for a living, family, where you're from... )
ALEX: My name is Alex Lettrich and I am 22 years old. I'm from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and I moved to the east coast of Florida about 4 years ago. I currently work for Volcom and collaborate with 20+ brands that I proudly stand with! I absolutely love working in the surf industry and being able to collaborate and meet so many amazing people along the way. I am also graduating with a Marine Biology degree in December of '15.
MICHAEL: Hi my name is Michael and I'm a girl. I'm 23 currently living in Indialantic, Fl and I'm a fashion/ lifestyle photographer/ part time surf shop employee.
What is your biggest passion?
ALEX: My biggest passion is to travel. There is nothing else on the planet that makes me more motivated and happy. All the money I make, everything I do in my life is revolved around my ability to travel. No book or any part of my advanced education has taught me more than the experiences I've had throughout my journeys. It just doesn't compare. It's been said that whatever sets your soul to flight is freedom and nothing more accurately describes the feeling I get while exploring another part of the world. When the awareness of how absolutely small you are in a world so big smacks you in the face as you're standing on a mountain or overlooking a never-ending sea, it's the most terrifying yet thrilling realization. This is what I keep coming back for - that feeling that there are literally ENDLESS places I can go, and I don't ever have to stop.
MICHAEL: My biggest passion is obviously photography and shooting but my favorite part about that is how the whole shoot comes together, that spark of an idea that leads to people coming together and making something beautiful that will hopefully inspire someone else to do the same and the endless cycle of creativity and inspiration that follows.
If we told you you had the opportunity to nominate someone to inspire our next bracelet who would you choose to nominate and why?
ALEX: I would nominate Rachel Brathen (also known as Yoga Girl on Instagram). There is just something so raw about Rachel that resonates with me so much. Her ability to inspire literally millions of people is very empowering. What I like most about her is that she gives it to you straight - all the pain and all the feelings - she understands them. A lot of the time when I read a post from her it's almost as if she has taken the words straight from my mouth. I think she would inspire a bracelet that represents that rawness. Truth. Strength. Endurance.
MICHAEL: Obviously I have to say my mom! Shes the smartest, strongest most independent women I've ever met
Use 3-5 words to describe your personality
ALEX: Adventurous, spontaneous, and passionate.
MICHAEL: Patient, relaxed, friendly, caring, dedicated
What's one piece of advice you would give your younger self?
ALEX: I would tell her to let go. To be calm. To be still. To remind her that the universe will never give you anything you cannot handle. My younger self was always worried and desperately lost for what seemed like an eternity. It takes strength as a person to not let the trials and tribulations of life and the world change you. To not let yourself be a victim despite it all. It took 22 years to finally make my peace with this. I would tell my younger self to let go of all the anger by opening my eyes and seeing what the world truly has to offer. I finally let go. Now that I am able to do that I see everything as an absolute blessing.
MICHAEL: STOP BEING SO AFRAID OF THE WORLD
What would you do if you won 10 million dollars?
ALEX: I would send my parents on a much needed vacation of their own and then I would spend every other dime of it on my own travels. No amount of material belongings could satisfy me more than traveling to all the destinations i've been dreaming of my whole life. However, I might throw in a lifted four-door Jeep Wrangler for when i'm not traveling because it's been my dream ride since I was a child.
MICHAEL: I would drop everything and back pack around the world with my love, I would love to see every natural wonder this world has to offer.
What kind of things do you love to do on your time off?
ALEX: If i'm not spending hours on the beach or in the water, I am at the yoga studio. By practicing yoga I am able to unwind and reset my intentions for the day. I am able to escape from my cluttered mind if only for a little while. The more I sweat and work hard, the more at ease I feel with everything else going on in my life.
MICHAEL: When I do have a rare chance to get away I love thrifting and antiquing! I also just love driving and taking day-cations to a different city with my boyfriend.
What are 3 places you would love to visit?
ALEX: Tahiti, Maldives, and Australia.
MICHAEL: Iceland, New Zealand, Croatia
What is one thing on your bucket list?
ALEX: I'm an adrenaline junkie, so I have an absolute need to go skydiving! The most optimal would be to skydive in another country that has an amazing view for the way down.
MICHAEL: Floating in the Dead Sea
Do you have a quote you live by?
ALEX: A Buddha quote that I have tattooed on my ribs: "Life is difficult, suffering is optional."
MICHAEL: Attitude is the difference between an ordeal and an adventure
Sharks or Dolphins?
ALEX: Sharks without a doubt!
Sunrise or sunsets?
ALEX: Luckily where I live i'm able to experience both every single day. I don't think I can pick just one. Even tie. It seems that both moments continually leave me mystified in the most wonderful ways.
MICHAEL: Sunrise, every one feels like mine since most of the world is asleep as the sun touches the horizon. Everytime I see a sunrise I feel like the Earth and I are sharing a special secret.
